Celiac-Friendly Dining Experience at Red Lobster

Introduction 

My Auntie gave us a $50 Red Lobster gift card for Christmas, so naturally, we decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. With food allergies and dietary restrictions to consider, I was curious to see how well Red Lobster would accommodate my needs.

Detailed Review 

We arrived around 5 pm and were pleasantly surprised to find no wait for a table. The atmosphere was comfortable, with dim lighting that was just right—not too dark, but cozy enough for a relaxing meal. Our waitress was fantastic, attentive, and went the extra mile to ensure we had a pleasant experience.

I ordered the 7oz sirloin steak, well done, accompanied by sea salt fries, a house salad with lime vinaigrette, and a lemonade. While the fries were delightfully crispy and the salad was fresh and tangy, the steak didn’t quite hit the mark initially—it came out medium instead of well done. After sending it back, it was cooked closer to medium well. Rather than sending it back a third time, I decided to take it home and finish cooking it myself. The lemonade, unfortunately, was just okay.

As someone who has to avoid gluten and dairy, navigating the menu was a bit challenging. While Red Lobster isn’t exclusively gluten-free, I was able to find a meal that worked for me. I had hoped to enjoy some shrimp, but most options contained something I couldn’t have.

The highlight of our visit was definitely the service. Our waitress brought out the allergen statement and ensured the kitchen staff was informed of my dietary restrictions—a rare and appreciated effort. Most places simply suggest a salad, but here, the staff took the time to make sure I had safe options.
